Our tasting event turned out great! My best friends parents let me have it in their lovely yard, and with their help and help from my great friends and siblings it turned out to be a beautiful event.
And as it turns out, people seemed to really enjoy the food as well! We served an abbreviated menu- 3 tacos, 3 burgers, guacamole, falafel and hummus and gave everyone a comment card to rate each dish and give their comments and suggestions. I think its safe to say the biggest hit of the night was the Palta Frita taco, which is our take on a fish taco – but we use avocado instead of fish. The Seabird Burger and Portabella sandwich both got great reviews as well.
Very few attendees were vegetarians, so it was great to reaffirm that our food can satisfy the omnivores as well. A lot of people mentioned that the food tasted fresh, which is great (because it was). But the most surprising positive review came from my own dad. He’s an old fashioned southern guy, raised on sausage, biscuits and gravy (picture Hank Hill) and very anti vegetables. So when he came into the kitchen to say he was really surprised how good everything was, it made all the hard work worth it.
